Elizabeth Guild Auxiliary
The Guild for Estes Park Medical Center
The
idea to organize a hospital auxiliary was born at a Park Hospital
District Board of Directors meeting in the early 1970s. The
Board made the decision for the auxiliary to serve as a fundraiser
for the hospital district.
A
group of forty-six ladies met, and the Elizabeth Guild Auxiliary was
founded, named for the wife of a large contributor to the hospital’s
building fund.
The
Elizabeth Guild Board of Directors made the decision to start a
nearly-new shop as their major source of income and began holding
fundraisers to launch the store. The grand opening of the
Nearly New Shop was held January 20, 1973. The store was
renamed the Elizabeth Guild in December 1973.
The
Elizabeth Guild Thrift Shop is currently located at 443 W. Elkhorn
Avenue in West Park Center. A second store, Lizzie’s Boutique,
opened in 2006 as an outlet for higher-end items donated to the
Thrift Store and is located two doors from the Thrift Shop.
All items sold in both stores are donated by the public or area
vendors.
The
Thrift Shop hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Lizzie’s hours are Wednesday - Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
From 1975 through 2005,
the Elizabeth Guild Auxiliary has donated $2,456,457.00 to Estes
Park Medical Center.
The
Guild is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3)
tax-exempt entity. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent
permitted by law.
